In California, if you’re injured at work, you might be eligible for workers’ compensation. But not all injuries qualify, and what exactly are the different kinds of injuries. In general, there are two types of injuries:
- Specific Injuries – These occur from one event, like slipping and breaking a bone.
- Cumulative Injuries – These develop over time from repetitive tasks, such as carpal tunnel or back pain. We refer to these as cumulative trauma or CT injuries.
Physical and Mental Injuries
Workers’ comp covers both physical injuries and mental health conditions caused by work, though mental injuries have stricter requirements.
What Isn’t Covered?
Not all injuries qualify for workers’ compensation. If an insurance company has denied your claim for benefits saying that your injury is not covered, then you should strongly considering hiring a local workers’ compensation attorney.
